The Biggest Kaibab Mule Deer in 2018

Wade drew a 2018 Late Kaibab Mule Deer tag (12AW) & hired Exclusive Pursuit Outfitters to guide him on this special mule deer hunt.   Jimmy Hoffman (guide) & crew scouted the unit (12AWest) hard in search of a big mule deer.  The Kaibab holds a tremendous amount of mule deer but you have to grind it out to find a really big buck.

He wasn’t quite the big buck they were looking to hunt .

The mule deer was kicking in on the Kaibab, which meant they were checking groups of does daily & you just never knew exactly where a big buck would show.  After several days of hunting hard with their small group of friends, they finally found a big buck that was a giant Kaibab Mule Deer.

Wade & Jimmy got it done on the Kaibab with the help of their small group of friends.

(Eric) Wade’s typical gross score won the SCI Gold Award for 2018. Non-Typical Gross score was over 210″
The tine length on Wade’s Kaibab Mule Deer was unreal, especially for a drought year like 2018.

Our good friend Mark B. drew his dream Arizona Mule Deer tag in Unit 13B in 2016.  The EPO crew scouted & hunted harder, which turned up several great strip bucks.   After 4 days of hunting hard, they looked over this BIG heavy typical & decided it was time to pull the trigger.

Great Buck taken on the Arizona General Mule Deer Hunt

When most people think of Big Mule Deer in Arizona they think of the Arizona Strip (Units 13A & 13B), the Kaibab (Units 12AW & 12AE) & Unit 12B. These units are known for great genetics, but these popular mule deer areas typically take multiple decades to draw or LOTTERY winning type luck to obtain a mule deer tag!

Arizona Mule Deer units south of the Grand Canyon hold some GREAT opportunity to hunt desert & rocky mountain mule deer without waiting decades, in fact some hunts can be drawn the first year you apply. If you hunt with US, trophy quality mule deer of 160-180 inches is extremely doable & occasionally, some of these areas will hold mule deer bucks in the 190 inch plus range!
